Born in Pakistan in 1979, Amjad Ali Talpur received his BFA from the National College of Arts, Lahore. Recognized before his graduation through his inclusion in a Calligraphy group exhibition at the Alhamra Arts Council, he also received considerable acclaim for his senior thesis solo show in 2005. Included along with artists like Ayesha Durrani, Sumaira Tazeen, and Ahsan Jamal in several shows featuring contemporary miniatures, he has had works shown at the French Embassy in Islamabad (2006), the Nomad Art Gallery, and the Canvas Gallery Karachi. Most recently, from July 16-August 16, 2008, Talpur participated in the show “Tradition, Technique, Technology: Contemporary Artists from Pakistan,” at Aicon Gallery in New York.
