Filippo Chiappe (1863 – 1936) studied jewellery at the Academy of Arts in Massa, Italy and then travelled to Alger and Paris to perfect his skills. He returned to Genoa to direct the Vassallo firm and then founded his own on the Via Roma. He also directed shops in Rome, Milan and Paris. He is best known as a pearl connoisseur and liaised frequently with the famous Parisian pearl expert, Rosenthal. His classical and traditional creations gained worldwide recognition, from the Italian Royal House to the wealthy Argentinian latifundiarii. Today, his nephews run the firm, which is currently located on the via XX Settembre.
