The firm of Kirkpatrick & Co. was founded in the latter part of the 19th century by Thomas Kirkpatrick who had emigrated to New York from Dumfries, Scotland. He opened a jewellery store and art gallery in the prestigious Waldorf Astoria Hotel offering quality jewellery. His grandson, named after the founder, directed the company from 1928 until his death in 1980. Their shop was located at 16 East Sixty-second Street.
