Born in Pakistan in 1969, Talha Rathore obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the National College of Arts, Lahore, Pakistan in 1995, specializing in Miniature Painting. In 1997 she won the UNESCO scholarship and moved to New Delhi to take up residence at the Sanskriti Akademi and in 1998 she moved to New York where she now lives with her husband. Her solo exhibitions include shows at Rohtas Gallery, Lahore (2007); Nature Morte Gallery, New Delhi (2004); Bose Pacia Modern Gallery, New York (2003); Gallery Espace, New Delhi (1998); and Alliance Francaise Gallery French Center, Lahore (1996). She has also participated in numerous collectives such as Gendering Detail, South Asian Gallery of Art and Art Square Gallery, Toronto, Canada (2006); the touring exhibition Karkhana: A Contemporary Collaboration, at The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, Ridgefield, Connecticut, USA, Asian Art Museum, San Francisco, USA, Asia Society and Museum, New York, USA (2005-2007); Beyond Borders, National Gallery of Modern Art, Mumbai, India (2005); Contemporary Miniature Paintings from Pakistan, Fukuoka Asian Art Museum, Japan (2004); Transforming Tradition: Contemporary Visions from Pakistan, World Bank Art Gallery, Washington DC, U.S.A. (2002); and International Exhibition of Common Wealth, National Art Gallery, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (1999). Most recently, in April 2008, she had a solo show titled Unclaimed Territories, at Aicon Gallery in New York.
