Theo Fennell, one of the United Kingdom's most well-known jewellers, began designing pieces for private clients in the early 1970s. During his studies in portraiture, he became increasingly interested in jewellery. He learnt how to make jewellery himself and in 1982, he opened a boutique and workshop on London's Fulham Road. In 1989, he was invited to be one of the seven jewellers represented in the Harrods Fine Jewellery Room. In 1996 he opened his flagship store near the old boutique which includes showrooms, studio, workshops and offices. His creations are hand-crafted in the workshops. The growth and success of the firm have been such that they were floated as Theo Fennell PLC on the Alternative Investment Market in 1996. In 2000, Theo Fennell expanded regionally through a number of carefully selected wholesale outlets across the country, as well as Bergdorf Goodman in New York and the Sandy Lane Hotel in Barbados. In 2001 Theo Fennell opened a stand alone boutique in the Royal Exchange, located in the heart of the City of London.
